Here’s the Bambino, George Herman “Babe” Ruth at the plate, back in his hometown of Baltimore. It’s amazing what a little color can do to bring 80-something year-old baseball history to life. American Photo Colorizing.com created the colorized image for a Babe Ruth exhibit at the Baltimore Civil War Museum. We call this one "Sultan Of Sweat"

The NY Yankees' Iron Horse, Lou Gehrig greets The Bambino at home plate in 1927, one of Babe Ruth's finest seasons at the plate. Babe hit 60 home runs that year to Lou's 47. Gehrig compiled a whopping .373 batting average in '27, while Ruth followed close behind with .356.

The Yankees knocked in 976 runs that year, including 158 home runs. Of those, Ruth & Gehrig were responsible for 107 round-trippers. The team compiled a 110-44 winning record, and went on to sweep the Pittsburgh Pirates in four games in the 1927 World Serries.

Finally, here's Babe Ruth vs. the Washington Senators at Griffith Stadium in 1931. Was it a grand slam? Was it an infield pop-up? It's anyone's guess - but, every time the Babe swung at a pitch, he looked like the ball was heading for the street.
